Belek Property

Belek is really shaping up to become one of the biggest stories and success stories in the history of Turkish property, and in fact is already taking its place as such.

Earlier this year, the UK national paper The Daily Mail ran a story saying that Belek had the potential to become the next Algarve.

Belek has been built as a golf resort town and the whole experience is tailored around the sport, and what people who play the sport are looking for in a coastal holiday destination.

Some 21 of Turkey’s 27 golf courses are in Belek, and a further 6 courses are planned for the resort. More importantly the courses are on a par with those in Europe’s more established destinations says one of Surrey’s top amateur golfers.

‘Belek’s courses are on a par with the major courses on the Algarve, but far cheaper to play on and set alongside well-maintained beaches,’ says Paul Creamer, head pro at Milford Golf Club in Surrey.

According to Belek holiday makers and property owners like Beverly Bartram, the town is also good at keeping out lager louts.

‘We have been coming to this coast for 30 years,’ he says. ‘Belek is seeing a lot of development but they don’t tolerate lager louts and it’s far more appealing than most Spanish coastal resorts.’

Bartram, a 55 year old ex-army Sergeant owns a property in Belek with his Turkish wife Gulumser, 51. They bought the four bedroom villa 3 years ago for £100,000 and rent it out for £400 per week.

‘This is an investment property for us. We also own an apartment in Alanya, 100 miles further east on the Riviera, where we are retiring to,’ says Mr Bartram.
