Tourist firms in Turkey, including those operating in the country’s expanding skiing sector, are looking forward to being in the spotlight when Istanbul hosts the Eastern Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Exhibition (EMITT) at the end of January.

The event, held from 30th January to 2nd February, not only raises global awareness of Turkey as a place to enjoy all types of holiday, but it also has positive knock-on effects for the Turkish property market.

This year, EMITT will have a designated hall for winter sports, where leading Turkish and international ski resorts, hotels and gear manufacturers will be able to exhibit and network with each other. hane and Kars.

Fair Director Hacer Aydin added that there are winter vacation options in Turkey don’t stop at skiing, as many resorts include world-class many thermal and spa facilities – one of the reasons that a Health Care tourism hall will also feature at EMITT 2014. Meanwhile in December 2013, Turkish Minister of Health Mehmet Muezzinoglu announced that Turkey’s rise in world health tourism means the revenue the country makes from treating foreign patients will double in 2014.

“Russians and citizens of the Turkic republics top the list of foreign patients who prefer Turkey,” said Minister Muezzinoglu. “We aim to double this year’s [2013] $2.5 billion medical tourism income in 2014. Beginning in 2014, two successive 5-year plans will be put into action to further improve Turkey’s status as a regional healthcare hub that can serve the surrounding region of about a billion people.” For foreign buyers, Turkish property close to world-class healthcare or thermal facilities should make a solid long-term investment.
